Uckfield oak frame

This three bedroom home takes its inspiration from local traditional historical structures, with the modern twist of infill Strawbale walls. The load bearing structure is a traditional oak frame, hand crafted form local materials here in Sussex. This house was also featured on the Chanel 4 television programme building the dream.

Stanmer load bearing

Working in partnership with Brighton Permaculture Trust and Low Carbon Trust we have created an outdoor classroom/Kitchen space. Officially known as the fruit factory this unusual build takes place in an existing building, an old tractor shed with existing roof and three walls. The design of the structure was centred around reuse, thus the build has been designed to be dismantled and re erected with ease. Currently still under construction – read more.

Waste house Brighton

Working with City College Brighton and Hove, University of Brighton and Mears Group, this concept house was built to investigate strategies for constructing a contemporary, low energy, permanent building using over 85% ‘waste’ material drawn from household and construction waste. The waste house was mainly built by pupils from local schools, college students and apprentices, using things such as old toothbrushes, DVD and video cassette boxes.
